Educators and Parents utilize Book Buddy as a teaching aid for students/users by using a tablet-based English language visual learning tool to support and enhance the demands of today’s higher US literacy standards (Common Core State Standards – CCSS) through engaging and thematic interactive activities that also provides progress monitoring.
Students/users read and identify objects, expand vocabulary and learn sentence patterns though the concept of creating virtual books. It is intended to be used in a classroom setting where teachers guide students to create virtual books incorporating letters, objects, images and high frequency pre-primer words.
Literacy and Vocabulary skills include:
1. Directionality of print from left to right, top to bottom, and page to page
2. An understanding that spoken words are represented through written language
3. Basic knowledge of one-to-one letter-sound correspondences
4. Expand vocabulary oral language development in various engaging settings

Book Buddy also serves as an Electronic Student Portfolio - all while providing Educators and Parents differentiation and evidence of student/user work and progress monitoring.
In addition, Book Buddy includes the "Activities Center" containing motivational adaptive games for students to play. Each activity is tailored to adapts to the student’s learned material and serves as a progress monitoring of the student’s learning level.
